How to feel happier daily

Being happy is a state of mind because happiness isn’t a tangible object. For the longest time I tried to find happiness through material things but each time it left me a little less happy. I got a high from buying things that would bring me temporary happiness & when that high would go down my feelings would come down with it. In order to be happy we have to normalize not being happy. Kind of ironic huh? That’s the first step to living a happier life. No one is happy 24/7 but we can definitely make an effort to find happiness everyday.

+LIST ALL THE THINGS THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY

Making a list of all the things you like will instantly put you in a good mood since you’re thinking of things that make you happy. This has actually helped me get out of a funk when I’m not feeling myself. (I recommend writing this on paper & not in your iPhone notes because seeing things on paper helps you visualize them easier.) Each time you go back to read your list, you’ll relive that moment of happiness you felt while writing them.

+ORGANIZE YOUR TIME & CLEAN YOUR SPACE

Managing your time & keeping your space organized will put you 10 steps ahead of everyone. Being organized will save you so much time & countless headaches. I’ve always said “when my room is a mess, my life is a mess” & I live by that! Being clean & having a clear environment sets the tone for your overall mood. Organizing your time is just as important as organizing your space. They kind of go hand in hand. You can’t organize your space if you don’t have your time organized & vice versa. (At least these rules apply for me.) Invest in a planner so you can invest your time wisely. Time is the only thing you can spend & not get back.

+GO OUTSIDE & CONNECT WITH MOTHER NATURE

Disconnecting from your phone & connecting with the real world is a game changer. I don’t think we value the simplicity of going outside enough & that has to change. Spending time outside is scientifically proven to make you happier. No, really. Sun exposure increases our dopamine levels & that gives our mood a positive boost. So spend time with mother nature, she’s always there waiting on us. P.S: Don’t forget to wear sunscreen.

+REMIND YOURSELF HOW COOL YOU ARE

Shower yourself with beautiful words everyday. Wake up, look in the mirror & remind yourself how cool you are. Practice saying positive affirmations to yourself every morning. At first it may feel weird but I promise you’ll get used to it & it’ll become a great part of your morning routine. Your body listens to everything so be kind to it.

+SET GOALS

I can’t emphasize enough how much happiness goal setting brings me!! I have a specific journal where I write my goals. I recommend doing the same & using a journal specifically for your goals so you don’t feel overwhelmed with a journal full of different topics. You can always look back at this journal & see how much progress you’ve made. Setting goals always feels like a fresh start & gives me so much motivation. As humans we are constantly evolving & adapting. It’s part of our nature. With that being said, we should constantly invite change into our lives. That’s the only way we’ll grow. Fall in love with the process, make mistakes, then get up & try again. You have to start romanticizing your life, word to TikTok. No, but seriously. You have to start romanticizing the “little things” in life. We only exist in moments so treat every moment like it’s your last.
